Jane Jacobs was an early proponent of community-based urban planning and although her ideas were mocked at the time, today she is considered required reading by anyone studying planning or architecture.
In May people all over the country take part in walks around their community to honor Jacobs and her philosophy.
I'm excited to announce that I will be hosting a Southend walk in her honor on Saturday, May 27. We'll meet at the Atherton Market and stroll through the 'hood talking about the history, seeing the public art, and even meeting a few of the locals.
